“The Land, The People, The Culture… The Inspiration!”
“Home is where your story begins…”
Our home is Africa where Hagereseb is and where Hagereseb Lives…
Africa the birth of Modern Human and Ancient Civilization, it’s Historical, Indigenous, Original, Beautiful, Colorful, Serene, Tribal, Wild… and simply Magnificent!
In this beautiful continent great wisdom of culture, history, and traditions are passed from generation to generation through the arts and crafts of the talented artisans and craftsmen of Hagereseb people.
Hagereseb is original, artistic, creative, beautiful, proud, resourceful, traditional & much more…
To us Hagereseb is The Inspiration!
Hagereseb is a “Tigrigna” word. Tigrigna is one of the several “Ge’ez” languages spoken in Eritrea and Ethiopia and it is also the official working language of Eritrea. Ge’ez is a Semitic language of ancient Ethiopia and Eritrea now used primarily as liturgical language of the Ethiopian and Eritrean Churches. Direct translation of “Hagereseb” in Tigrigna is “The country of Human as well as the Countryman/woman when referring to the villagers could also be used referring to the village itself”. Ge’ez, Amharic, Tigrigna and several other Eritrean and Ethiopian languages are the only languages in Africa that have their own unique alphabet system.
Our goal is to embrace and support “the Hagereseb lifestyle – the artisan craftsmanship of African villages” to be inspired… to share… and to help preserve the culture, traditions, language and talents that are passed from generation to generation. We hope to achieve this in small but meaningful ways, through the stories we tell, and the treasures we share in our inspirational collections.
Hagereseb is all of us, together …our identity, our history, our culture, our tradition, our heritage, our belonging. The fabrics and colors of the cloth that define our traditions, jewelry that confirm our identities, adornment arts & crafts that cozy our homes, photos that fill our memories with beautiful and serene Hagereseb landscape, the humble Hagereseb people and the simple life that “we all” once lived in… We want to share all of our Hagereseb inspirations and discoveries that mean everything to us, with all of you.
